The authors of this study conducted a mechanistic assessment of enhanced 8-oxoguanine DNA glycosylase (OGG1) catalytic activity coupled with molecular modelling of potential ligand binding sites, as well as biophysical measures of OGG1 activators. The Axion BioSystems Exact (formerly known as Corning Cell Counter) was used to count mouse embryonic fibroblasts (MEFs) before plating them and performing further assays. The results of the study support an allosteric mechanism of OGG1 and not product-assisted catalysis.
