This study described an improved ex vivo culturing method to visualize and select live blood cells from Drosophila larvae. The Axion Lux3 FL was used to monitor isolated hemocytes. All in all, the findings of this study and the developed culturing conditions can aid understanding of blood cell development and transdifferentiation, which is of importance for therapies against blood cell malignancies.
